Data Protection Statement

1  General

1.1  Structure of this website

This website consists of static pages and “dynamic” pages.

Static pages include:

Dynamic pages include:

1.2  Data collected automatically on all pages of this website (“Logging”)

When you access a static or dynamic page, the following information is collected:

This information is stored in a log file on the server. This data is collected automatically for the purposes of monitoring server load, monitoring for irregular traffic (e.g., attempted intrusions, especially automated intrusions) and debugging. The legal basis for the collection of this data with respect to users in the European Union (EU) is provided by Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (controller’s legitimate interest). The data will not be shared with any third parties and will be deleted after two years. If you are within the EU, the GDPR provides you with rights with respect to the storage and processing of this data. These rights are listed in Section 4 below. Reasonable effort will be exerted to provide all users of this website with all the rights afforded by the GDPR, regardless of their location; no guarantees regarding this provision can be made for users outside of the EU, however.

1.3  Data provided actively by user

When you enter data into the survey form on the homepage and successfully submit the data, all the data you enter into the form fields is saved in a database. More detail is provided in Section 2 below.

When you access confirm_email.php by clicking the email confirmation link, no additional information is collected, but the information is stored in a database, not only in a log file. More detail is provided in Section 3 below.

1.4  SSL

This website uses SSL on every page.

1.5  Cookies

This website does not use cookies.

2  Survey form

The purpose of this website is to allow crowdsourcing requesters with opinions about committing to pay minimum wage to express those opinions. To support this purpose, the homepage (index.html) includes a form with fields (some optional) in which you are asked to enter the following information:

By filling out this form and clicking the button labeled “Submit” at the bottom of the form, you consent to transmitting your data and having it saved in a database on the server hosting this website. The legal basis for the collection of this data with respect to users in the EU is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (data subject’s consent). The data will not be shared with any third parties and will be deleted after two years. For the purposes of communication regarding the Crowdsourcing Wage Pledge, including communication of personal data of survey participants, members of the Crowdsourcing Wage Pledge Survey Advisory Board are not considered third parties. Should Advisory Board members receive any such data, they are bound by the provisions of this data protection statement.

3  Email confirmation

After successful completion of the survey form on the homepage of this website (see Section 2 above), an email will be sent from the email address faircrowdwork@gmail.com with the sender name “Crowdsourcing Wage Pledge Survey” to the email address you entered into the survey form.

The purpose of this email is to confirm your ownership of the email address you entered. The email contains a link of the form:

https://pledge.platformwork.org/confirm/XXXXXXXX

where XXXXXXXX is a unique “confirmation code” that is automatically generated and assigned (i.e., saved in the database on the server hosting this website in the same record as the rest of your answers to the survey questions) upon your completion of the survey.

Clicking on the link will cause your browser to access confirm_email.php, a dynamic page on this website. That page will update the database record corresponding to your answers to the survey questions to indicate that you have clicked the link. It will also save the date and time at which, and the IP address from which, you accessed the page, in the same database record.

The legal basis for the collection of this data with respect to users in the EU is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (data subject’s consent). The data will not be shared with any third parties and will be deleted after two years. For the purposes of communication regarding the Crowdsourcing Wage Pledge, members of the Crowdsourcing Wage Pledge Survey Advisory Board are not considered third parties. Should Advisory Board members receive any such data, they are bound by the provisions of this data protection statement.

4  Your rights

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GPPR) provides users of this website located in the EU with specific rights with respect to their personal data.

The operators of this website aim to provide all users of this website, regardless of their location, with these same rights to the extent possible given reasonable effort; no guarantees can however be made for users not located in the EU.

These rights are provided by Articles 13 through 22 (Sections 2 through 4) of GDPR and are as follows:
